New Student Admissions
During January, the Roanoke Valley Governor’s School for Science and Technology will be recruiting students for the fall of 2021. RVGS is a public regional program serving 9th-12th grade students from Bedford, Botetourt, Craig, Franklin, Roanoke City, Roanoke County, and Salem. Students typically apply during their 8th or 9th grade year to begin attendance the following fall.
We invite prospective students and their parents/guardians to attend one of the virtual informational sessions listed on this page to learn about our school and obtain an application. Students will submit their portion of the application packet to their current school counselor by February 1. Instructions to receive the application are included in the virtual informational session.
A recorded informational session will be available for families that cannot attend during one of the scheduled times, but attendance to live sessions will include Q&A opportunities for students and adults.
If you have questions, please contact the school at 540-853-2116.
Students and their parent/guardian should join and watch the session together from a single computer/mobile device. A second device will be used later by the student to join a student Q&A session toward the end of the main session.
The link for the student Q&A session at the end of the meeting will be provided in the presentation. It is also accessible from this link, but students should ONLY join this room when told to do so during the live session.
Informational Session Schedule
Thursday January 7 6:30 PM
Thursday January 14 6:30 PM
Tuesday January 19 6:30 PM
Note: the session link will remain active to allow the opportunity to check accessibility on your device.
The recording can be used as an alternative to attending one of the three live sessions if there are time conflicts for your family. The Q&A sessions are only available during the live sessions.
